Anastassis Philippakopoulos was born in 1969 in
France. He studied piano with P. Venturas and T.
Georgiou in Athens, while he wrote
his first pieces with composer M.Travlos. Between 1989 and 1994 he studied composition at the Hochschuele
der Kuenste Berlin with W.Szalonek and F.M. Olbrisch. He also worked on 15th century counterpoint with G.
Neuwirth. 1990 he was awarded the 2. prize at the “J. A.
Papaioannou compositions contest” organized by the Greek composers Union,
with his piece “Music for bassoon”. 1992 he wrote the music for the short duration film
“Maquillage” by B.Neumann. Since 1996 he lives in Athens. He participates in contemporary music concerts and
has written music for theater. As a music teacher he has worked at the Atheneum
conservatory (1997-1998). Since 2002 he is a member of the Wandelweiser
composers group and his music is published by the edition wandelweiser. He has also participated in concerts of the group in
Düsseldorf. In 2006 his first cd “solo pieces” was released with
edition wandelweiser records. |
