His compositions draw inspiration from visual arts and political theory and range from symphonic and chamber works to computer-assisted improvisations and text scores. His work is performed internationally in various settings, from concert halls to basements. He is the owner/director of Sawyer Editions, a record label for contemporary classical music and Sawyer Spaces, a label for field recording and experimental music. He has released on EWR, Another Timbre, Full Spectrum Records, kuyin, Sawyer Editions, Sawyer Spaces, Impulsive Habitat, Thanatosis, Harmonic Ooze and others.
