Anastassis Philippakopoulos

Composer Anastassis Philippakopoulos was born in 1969 in France.
He wrote his first pieces in Athens with composer M. Travlos. 
Between 1989 and 1994 he studied composition at the University of Arts (Universitaet der Kuenste)  in Berlin with W.Szalonek and F.M. Olbrisch. 
Since 2003 he is a member of the Wandelweiser composers collective. In 2006 his first c.d. was released by the Edition Wandelweiser Records with the title “solo pieces”.
His music has been performed in Europe and the United States by musicians including conductors Mark Menzies with the Calarts String Orchestra, Alexandre Myrat with the TSSO and the Camerata Athens, flutists Antoine Beuger, Katrin Zenz, Natalia Gerakis  and Christine Tavolacci, oboists Kathy Pisaro and Kostas Tiliakos, clarinetists William Powell, Jurg Frey and Yannis Samprovalakis,   pianists Dante Boon, Mark So, Eva-Maria Houben, Manfred Werder  and Leo Svirsky, singer Irene Kurka and others.
In 2012 he visited California Institute of the Arts  in Los Angeles as an invited artist. He presented his music in lectures and concerts together with composers Michael Pisaro and Michael Jon Fink.

Zwischen 1989 und 1994 studierte er Komposition an der HdK Berlin bei W. Szalonek und F.M. Olbrisch.
Anastassis Philippakopoulos gehört seit 2003 dem Wandelweiser Komponistenkollektiv an. 2006 hat die Edition Wandelweiser Records seine erste CD "solo pieces" herausgegeben.
Seine Musik wurde in Europa and den Vereinigten Staaten ausgeführt, darunter vom Calarts String Orchestra (Ltg. Mark Menzies), vom TSSO und der Camerata Athens (Ltg. Alexandre Myrat), von Antoine Beuger, Katrin Zenz, Natalia Gerakis  und Christine Tavolacci (Flöte), Kathy Pisaro and Kostas Tiliakos (Oboe), William Powell, Jurg Frey und Yannis Samprovalakis (Klarinette),  Dante Boon, Mark So, Eva-Maria Houben, Manfred Werder und Leo Svirsky (Klavier), Irene Kurka (Sopran) und anderen.
2012 war als "invited artist" am California Institute of the Arts  in Los Angeles zu Gast. Er stellte dort seine Musik in Vorträgen und in Konzerten zusammen mit den Komponisten Michael Pisaro und Michael Jon Fink vor.
